Rubric for Project One

1. Grammar and Formatting (Out of 5)

· no grammatical errors

· is the formatting 12pt, Times New Roman, double spaced?

· are there 1 inch margins?

· is there a clear header on the first page with name, course, date, etc?

2. Directions (Out of 10)

· did you follow the directions of the project?

· did you keep track of your roles during the week in a diary?

· did you have an introduction that gives a brief description of the three significant roles and also offers your thesis statement about role performance?

· did you correctly define and use the terms role performance, role strain, role conflict, role exit (when applicable?)

· did you structure your paper in a clear, concise, organized way?

3. Analysis (10 points)

· did you define the social expectations of those roles and then your own performance of them?

· did you tie it back to notes, class, text, etc.?

· did you analyze how social categories (ie. age, race, gender, class, etc) intersect with your role performance?

· did you analyze (briefly) any significant social contexts in which the roles occur?

*You don’t need to attach the diary, but some short (1-2 lines at most) quotes from diary may help you illustrate your points.
