Final Project Rubric: Public Service Announcement Goal: Deepen your knowledge on a specific topic from the course, synthesize your knowledge, and disseminate it to the general public. Guidelines:
• Choose a topic discussed in class to expand upon it • Find 2 scholarly articles (peer-reviewed journal articles) that go into greater depth on your topic
o Read them and complete an annotated bibliography in your project write-up (see requirements below for details)
• Create a PSA o This can be any modality: poster, infographic, flyer, video, stop/go video, animation
video, short youtube show, podcast, etc…. options are limitless o Synthesize the information on your topic and present it in a way that the general public
will understand. § This is your opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge, explain complicated
concepts, and give real-world example. Make sure to use terms that the general public will understand when discussing complicated topics/concepts.
§ Questions to ask yourself while completing your PSA: • 1. Audience: Who is my target audience? • 2. Message: What is my message(s)? • 3. Dissemination: What am I trying to teach/disseminate? What do I
want my audience to learn? • 4. Significance: Why is this topic so important? Why should my audience
care? • 5. Future Directions: Where is this my topic/field headed next? What is
the critical and essential next step? What do I think is important for supporting the research/application of my topic? Is there a call to action? Where should this topic/field go next?
• 6. Interest: Why did I choose this topic? What interests me about this topic? How will I apply my new knowledge in the real world?
Requirements of PSA 1. Project Write-up
a. Question Responses i. Turn in written responses to the above questions plus any additional
information you believe necessary to understand your topic and the above questions (1 page minimum)
ii. b. Annotated bibliography
i. APA-style citations for both articles both articles ii. Write a brief description (approximately 150 words) for each article
1. Include: description of study, main arguments, relevance to your topic, key findings/conclusions drawn, & future directions
2. Papers should be relevant to your topic & provide new information that adds to what was covered in class
2. Project: a. PSA should directly incorporate what you read in the two articles b. Information should be synthesized and manageable for the general public
c. Topic should be discussed in sufficient detail to understand and concepts explained d. Finish with a call to action too! What should the general public do/plan next with their
knowledge?
