What is the rover?
The rover project is one of the projects that MTSU participated in which is sponsored by NASA and is held at the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama every year. Teams from all over the nation design, build and race their designed project of the moon buggy to test their engineering skills. They also apply what they learned in the engineering classes in the real life.
What are the rules for the competition?
The project the students’ present should have a unique design with a 5‘cube collapse and must be human powered. It also must be able to be carried by two people from different gender (male and female). Moreover, the vehicle should be able to handle up to 30 degrees inclines both sideways and forwards.
MTSU won the first place standing in the US and third place standing internationally in the years of 2013 and 2015. In 2014, they participated and won the second place standing in the US and fifth place standing internationally. And this year, 2018, the won the Technology Challenge Award, System Safety Challenge Award, as well as the AIAA Telemetry/Electronics Award.
