Unlike Pennsauken case, I do not recall experiencing the white flight. But also like at the beginning of the chapter, I did not know what race was when I lived in Miami, Florida at a young age (Conley, 2017). As I look back where I lived in my young age, most of my neighbors were black. According to the Census Bureau, my childhood neighborhood as of 2016 was about the same as far as white versus black races goes.

When I lived in zip code 31015, there was no need for white flight. The town as already separated by the railroad tracks. Most of my neighbors were family members. I remember feeling so out of place when I had to go to the Post Office. All the shops, movies theater and etc. were located on the other side of the tracks. We did have a couple of convenience stores and one groceries store and tons of churches on our side of the tracks.

My final zip code before I left home was 33054. Once again no white flight, the neighborhood there had pretty much all races. But as life went on the race changed to major to Hispanic on the block where my family home is located. My family and 4 others are the only black family that still lives on my block the last time I went home. I also noticed most homes are rental now.
