Using Analytic Techniques to Add Meaning to Data Devan

What you discussed about the company background was basic. To score higher, your discussions needs include some specific details about Amazon as a business, for example, its operations, products/services, strategies, key competitors, and even some content on how recent news on Amazon business or stock activities has affected the company business operations or strategies and investor's views about the company. All these help to provide a well-rounded picture of Amazon as a business to better contextualize their stock performance and activities therein.

In addition, separate discussions about the company background from the data analysis. Consider redoing this section and resubmit.

Looks like you provided 3/4 of the required graphs for this assessment. In addition, the supporting contents did not always match the graphs presented in the paper. For example, under your descriptive statistics heading, you presented the scatterplots of low stock price and not the required statistical information: mean, median, mode, and standard deviation. The content and graphs must go together. For the graphical presentation, please double-check the labels for the y and x-axis for the graph as they appeared missing or inaccurate. For example, the scatterplots were supposed to show the stock price (i.e., high or low) for the y-axis and time in date format (i.e., MM/DD/YYYY) for the x-axis based on 1-year of stock data.

The histograms should be based on frequency vs. adjusted closing stock price, and frequency against the volume of stock traded for the y and x-axis, respectively. Please take a look at the assessment instructions on using Excel File. Make sure to follow instructions #1 thru #4 completely. In addition, you may want to review the stock data downloaded to ensure you are representing accurate data results for the graphs. If you like you can download the company data from Yahoo Finance again to double-check. Remember, the graphs themselves need to be accurately presented, labeled, and self-explanatory to score above proficient.

Watch this video as it can help you to see how the graphs and statistics data need to be presented in assessment 2.

The descriptive statistics results (mean, mode, median, and standard deviation) must be presented in tabular format and not in a graphical presentation as the assessment calls for. You must put your results of the statistics calculations into a table format. Refer to assignment instructions #6 thru #9. Second, be sure to provide relevant content to match the calculations and most importantly to explain the meaning and consequences of the results. One of your job as a financial data analyst is to perform financial calculations and provide an explanation that could be useful to managers for decision making. As presented now in your paper, it is hard to understand what all these figures actually mean? Do not assume your reader understands it. To score higher than basic, you must address my comments.

This criterion for me goes to the heart of this assessment to explain and add meaning to the dataset. As an analyst, you are to provide a summary explanation of various datasets and calculations you performed to demonstrate your skills, and ultimately to provide a piece of meaningful information to your end-user. Based on what was discussed so far, you need to specifically include a discussion on how each graph and stats were developed and calculated. I understand we can use Excel formulas to perform these, but you still have to provide a well-written explanation (i.e., a detailed summary) of how what was done. Think of this as a recipe, like a step-by-step instruction explaining how each descriptive statistic is calculated and graphs were developed.

When it comes to APA formatting, you did a good job with your reference page, except you were missing either DOI or URL for the article for your references. Second, make sure each reference has a corresponding citation and vice versa. For example, I noted from your reference page, Gammeltoft and Tarmidi (2013) were not specifically cited inside anywhere in your paper but were listed on your reference page. This APA mismatch is frowned upon so please double check to ensure each reference listed has a corresponding citation(s) and vice versa.

Review and fix this across your reference page. I expect that this would be corrected for your next assessment.

As I have previously stated, I think the way you displayed your graphs and descriptive statistics data did not go well to support the content immediately followed or above it. Your paper would be much benefited from reorganization and formatting to achieve professionalism. Also, the contents need to be relevant to the data presented.
