Purpose of Article

The article gives a detailed explanation on the effect that Knowledge Management (KM) has on both products and the innovation strategies of an organization. In the process of explaining these concepts, the authors look into how the products and innovation process affect the operational performance.

Methodological Design ( SEE EXAMPLES)

The authors use a qualitative analysis approach with an emphasis on questionnaire-based surveys. They collect data from 207 manufacturing companies within Jordanian capital Amman.

NOTE: NOT SURE IS QUALITATIVE ANALYSES. INSTEAD QUANTITAVE

???? Variables’ definitions and measures. Validity and reliability of the scales.

Variables ( SEE EXAMPLE FOR THE QUESTION)

The variables for this research are KM and Operational performance (OP). Different organizations have unique organizational performances based on the structure of their organization and how employees are governed. KM is meant to increase OP since it improves the rate at which information is learnt and retained in an organization. in this case, KM is the independent variable, while OP is the dependent variable.

Validity and Reliability

The assessment for validity and reliability was assessed using a pilot study that involved experts in the fields of KM from the University of Jordan. Four managers working in the manufacturing industry in Jordan were also involved. This group of experts was meant to thoroughly examine the relevance of the questionnaire based on existing empirical and theoretical studies in the fields of KM, technical innovations, and OP. Construct validity was also assessed using the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and the Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). These two approaches helped to determine whether the variables being examined fell into multiple dimensions.

Internal Validity

The internal Validity of the research is handled using the structural equation model (SEM) that confirmed the unidimensionality of the data collected through the EFA approach. To assess this data, the researchers use a four assumption method that checks statistical variance for statistical significance. Using the sampling adequacy and Bartlett’s test of sphericity, the researchers managed to gather the values with the minimum eigen value in order to acquire data with the highest confidence and varimax rotation. The CFA was also evaluated using fit indexes to ensure it fell within the specified functions.

Recommendation

A lot of energy was placed on innovation and expanding of ideas. A majority of organizations begun to grow grounded on fundamental business theories. This knowledge was easily communicated to that generation due to the ease of applicability of different business theories in a job setting. However, as time evolves, so does the nature of business. I would recommend that the authors look into organizational learning strategies and how it relates with organizational learning. There is a lot of information on how knowledge can be managed with innovations and OP, but little on how employees get to constantly learn through their roles. Knowledge is fluid. The current economic market is constantly changing because of advancement in technology and organizational structures. Employees need to be in the loop for these changes so that they change where needed. For this reason, it is important that the readers of this article are not only aware of how to manage knowledge, but also how to ensure that the employees within an organization are constantly learning.

Personal Approach

For my own thesis, I will be inclined to use a more statistical approach with my methodology. I intend to use statistical data from the past to date and make a comparative analysis that will give me a proper guide on economic trends. For this study, I would have done the data collection bit better. Confining the research to Jordan would limit the solution of the problem to companies in Jordan or those with similar problems as those in Jordan. This article has opened me different approaches that I will implement in my study where applicable.

HERE IS A PAST WORK EXAMPLES HOW IT WAS ANSWERING.

2.3. Methodological design

The perceptual constructs (self-reporting) of facilitating conditions include: KM system (FCS), policies (FCP) and culture (FCC) with all three connecting from the top half of the model, to the Intra-Organizational Knowledge Hiding (IOKH). The objective constructs (based on organizational data) of compensation for full-time equivalent and involuntary turnover connect from the bottom half of the model to the IOKH. This gives IOKH the position of a mediator since IOKH connect to reciprocal knowledge hiding (RKH) and voluntary turnover intentions (VTI).

This research has consideration as an experimental design due to the strong internal validity of the outcomes as shown in the tables of the research and as explained throughout the rest of this paper. The group defined for the research had differing levels of employees within the main group. Additionally, there was a large sampling for the survey. (Trochim, 2006)

2.4. Variables’ definitions and measures. Validity and reliability of the scales.

Voluntary turnover intentions (VTI) were adapted for this study. Each construct was operationalized with multiple indicators that pertained to various aspects of a relevant concept measured on a seven-point Likert-type scale. The voluntary turnover intentions scale included one negatively worded item which served as a cognitive speed-bump to reduce common method variance. A 13-item scale was used to measure the social desirability bias. The face validity assessment was done by asking for feedback from a group of scholars with expertise in the domain of this study and from potential respondents. There were three rounds of revisions with feedback from the review team was sued to modify and improve the questions until everyone was in agreement with the final revision. Through this process, it was concluded that no further modifications were necessary because an acceptable level of construct and reliability and validity was observed.
