I would consider the F test to be the appropriate statistical test to use for this study. The F test is a more general statistical test that can be used to ask whether there is a difference among three or more groups or to evaluate the results of factorial designs (Cozy & Bates, 2015). Since the researchers our looking to evaluate the relationships shown in the difference between the learning levels of developmentally delayed, typical, and gifted children; the F test would fit the appropriate method to conduct the study since it is a relationship of more than two variables to focus on. The F statistic is a ratio of two types of variance: systematic variances and the error variance (between groups and within group variances). The researchers are rationalizing the scores since in the differences between the groups of learning vocabulary to analyze the scores shown whether they are high or low structure between the different functioning levels. The analysis of variances would show the relationship means between all groups and different levels combined.
