“If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” (Estrada, 2019).  My decision to enroll in The Walden University advanced degree was my passion for effective leadership; I want to use exploration time to make important discoveries within that field. According to Creswell, (2012), One of the greatest things about earning an advanced degree is that individuals will be able to conduct their own research and make changes in organizational procedures and policies.

Currently in our contemporary societies, education level is one of the most essential influences to decide on one’s positions in their societies. Education level is accepted as an indicator for personal development which has ignited my passion for pursuing an advanced graduate degree. In addition, education level is related to economic success and wealth in this capitalist world. Moreover, it has been proven that an advanced graduate degree creates Higher education hierarchical which can influence positive change in and around our societies.

I became a teacher for a very simple reason; I want to make a difference in children’s lives. While there are many fields in which I could accomplish this goal, I feel that education is the field that has the greatest impact. Every day, children around the world are being told that they aren't good enough, or that they just "can't" with an advanced education degree, I know I have a positive platform from which to dispel that fallacy. I realize that teaching is a profession that can be supremely exhausting, but I know that the benefits outweigh the exhaustion.

I have been working in a supervisory position at The Willowdene Group of Schools for over fifteen years. My duties entail, Implemented, developed and maintaining curricular and extracurricular programs, managing different activities of the school (Honour Service, Graduation exercise, working on staff and students' refinement committee, developing school mentorship programs, reviewing textbooks and notes of students yearly and making suggestions for teachers' improvement. My personal goal is to be an Education Officer in the Ministry of Education Jamaica. I attended the University of Technology in which I did my first degree in the field of Home Economics Studies, I was then motivated to move on to higher studies pursuing my master’s degree in Administration and Leadership at the Northern Caribbean University located in Manchester Mandeville Jamaica.

As mentioned before that leadership was always my passion so it was easy to align topics related to the education of interest to ignite my passion these include collaborative learning, No child left Behind and community Immersion which include school staff directly engaging residents in sharing concerns and challenges. These topics are important because measures can be put in place to directly make a positive impact on individual lives in and around our society at large.

I do concur with Malcolm X that, “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”  I am on this journey to make an impact in education this will be challenging but nothing in life is easy.  I hope to complete my Doctoral degree by 2023.

Individuals from many walks of life desire a doctorate in education for a number of private and practical purposes. As someone who has experienced displacement and poverty, I am devoted to changing public education, particularly in low-income communities. I am especially interested in intensifying the integrity of education for at-risk children and students of color. As a byproduct of my personal circumstances, I am well aware of the depression and dissatisfaction that plague those who are attempting to maneuver the countless pitfalls and problems connected with low socioeconomic rank. For example, students from low-income families have less tools at home to finish assignments, research, or participate in programs that prepare them for educational achievement (Singh & Lee, 2020). While most education advocates campaign for educational access, my purpose is to lobby for educational quality. I am confident that enhancing the quality of education received by underprivileged students may signify the distinction between despair and optimism.

Being a lifelong student has intrinsic significance in education. In doctoral studies, there is also an emphasis on leadership while studying and developing managerial skills. As a doctoral student, it is important to establish, employ, and evaluate suitable program goals. If I exercise order and discipline, I should be able to finish my degree by the end of next year. My initial objective for this degree is to become competent in the intellectual frameworks that govern educational policies and procedures, as well as the legal, philosophical, and historical frameworks that constitute them. Another aim for me is to embrace my personal and vital position as a positive development catalyst in urban public schools and related initiatives, and to prepare to serve as an ally for exceptional resources and systems for at-risk children. My ultimate objective is to obtain a wide range of transferable leadership qualities and skills that will help me run an educational institution effectively. While this is not an exhaustive collection of ambitions, it does capture the core of my aspirations for this program.
