Re: Migration to the Cloud

Networks Corp needs to migrate to the cloud because of some benefits. One advantage of the migration is reliability of the systems in that platform. . When the business moves to the cloud, it cannot face challenges such as system downtime resulting from server issues. When one server has a problem, the organization can still access data because another server can be used instead. There is distribution of workload and through virtualization. Networks Corp cannot suffer from issues related to server failure. Second, the cloud platform ensures remote access and it becomes more convenient to access data and other updates from the comfort of an employee’s home. Staff members who work remotely and those who travel a lot can be able to have constant updates from their mobile devices. This benefit contributes to productivity of employees thus customer satisfaction. Employees with better working conditions can deliver the procducts or services that customers need in the least time possible while ensuring high quality (Chen, Ta-Tao Chuang, & Kazuo, 2016).

Further, Networks Corp can benefit from easy data recovery in case of an incident. Since its information and other resources are to be stored online, it becomes possible to access them even when various devices are damaged. Because the cloud computing platform has various solutions for disaster recovery, the organization does not need to spend a lot whenever it is recovering data or resources lost during incidents (Chihande & van der Poll, 2017).  Also, moving to the cloud is beneficial to the organization because it enhances compliance with different environmental laws. Due to the fact that it mainly uses the cloud platform for most of the operations, it reduces the need for physical resources that can contribute to electronic waste.

When moving to the cloud, there are some workloads that Networks Corp can consider moving to the platform. One of the workloads is the database workload. Networks Corp should migrate the workload because it supports all services they rely on the organization’s data. Another workload is the transactional workload. This workload is necessary because Networks Corp requires automating most of its order processing and billing functions. The workload, even though might be difficult sustain in the short-term basis, can be instrumental in adding business value in the long-run. Migration of these two workloads to the cloud is thus beneficial to the business.
