What should Mark have done if Jack still was not able to resolve the problem?

Ans: In my opinion, Mark could have done two possible things if Jack still was not able to resolve the problem. First Mark believed in Jack's skill sets and abilities and considered him as the best resource for the project. Jack had been facing challenges and difficulties to solve the project as it was complex. Mark should have analyzed efforts Jack was putting on and examined the progress. Mark should have considered providing help or support from another team member to Jack (Kerzner, & Kerzner, 2017). Mark was not able to analyze the challenges Jack was facing and therefore could not channel them. The second option would be to assemble capable candidates from the resource pool in the company. If he would implement diverse talents and expertise from various departments than multiple aspects of the problem would get covered. Distinctive skillsets and information could help to initiate collaboration with innovative ideas to the table.

5. Would it make sense for Mark to assign this problem to someone else now, after Jack could not solve the problem the second time around?

Ans: In my opinion, it would be very late to give a chance to someone else after Jack's second attempt to figure out the solution. Mark assumed that the only one that would solve this issue was Jack. It shows that Mark decided that Jack was the best person to resolve the problem, and nobody else could be as efficient and useful as Jack. So, considering giving another person from the team a chance to look over the project would not be the best option. This is because the new person has to go through their own path of understanding and learning about the project to determine the solution (Udo, & Koppensteiner, 2004). But However, from my perspective implementing multiple skillsets than a single coworker would definitely help. This is because if there are multiple people with distinct knowledge and skills involved than there would be a chance to view the project from multiple perspectives and come up with an innovative solution faster.
