Finally, read your classmates' posts. A complete assignment includes your written response to at least one essay besides your own--part of your score is based on your reply to at least one of your classmate's posts. It should be a meaningful reply that continues the discussion, points out something good about the post, and makes a constructive suggestion for improvement.

the fallacy of misrepresenting someone’s claim or argument, so it can be more easily refuted. I feel that people are encouraged to use the straw man fallacy when it comes to moral arguments, because if a statement has rational reasons, we are entitled to believe it, the better the reasons supporting a statement, the more likely it is to be true. When someone uses this fallacy against me, I feel they are starting an argument with me for no essential reason.  An example of this would be the ad hominem attacking someone because of character, morals, reputation, or credentials. A great example of the ad hominem attack would be attacking an Obama supporter because they believe in the motto "when they stoop low, we aim high."For example, when they were speaking on the Obama family and how they carried themselves in public events when he was in office. A person that supports the Trump administration for example might argue on the topic of public appearance in the White House and say , ‘’oh , I like how president Trump just speaks his mind and lets it be known as the man that he is." He served hamburgers to TSA workers when they were out of their jobs at the time. That is good .

The individuals that do not support the Obama’s are going to say. "Oh Obama's would be so extra and everyone would get a big meal around the table in the White House trying to impress the American people. The ad hominem would be to demean the Obama family and their hospitality just because of their moral, reputation, and credentials. My example shows a good representation of a straw man because the Obama administration and Trump administration are two different kinds of administration. The two presidents handled public affairs differently, and their attitude and character are extremely different when they spoke to the public. Similar fallacies include some saying of course Trump would do that if he did eat well himself.  It's just the same as how the Trump administration gave TSA workers hamburgers for a meal like he was having a day out with his buddies, when he could have a banquet for them with a buffet, but he does not have class. This is a good example of a straw man because I easily refuted the argument based on what the argument was about. The character, morals, credentials to the ad hominem. That is a good argument with basic reasons, and it is more likely to be true.
