Respond to Student A

I am King J and I am a MBA student. I am planning on completing the Healthcare Administration specialty. I currently live in Charlotte, NC. No partner, no children, no pets, just me but I like it that way.

As far as educational background, I have a BS in psychology. I worked as a social worker for a while, but I became burnt out pretty quickly (overworked and underpaid).  Thankfully, I found a brand new career in the insurance industry. I work for Lincoln Financial Group as a Long Term Disability claims examiner. I don't have direct business experience, but it has always intrigued me and I am excited to learn more.

It is so nice to meet you all and I'm excited to start this journey with everyone!!

Student B

My name is Emi D and I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Phoenix in 2014. I am currently attending school to obtain my MBA. Originally, I was going for a master’s in Mental Health Counseling but changed my major to Applied Behavior Analysis after my son was diagnosed with Autism. After about two years I realized that is not what I really wanted to do. After some self-evaluation, I realized my critical thinking skills are mostly used in the business industry so I changed my major.

My work history consists of customer service with 19 years of experience in call center and retail industry. I currently work for Liberty Mutual Insurance as a claims adjuster. I am passionate at helping others become a better version of themselves. I believe becoming the best version of your self is the key to thriving. My goal is to obtain my MBA to inquire the skills and education I need to promote change, self-development, leadership and growth within the business industry.  I am the founder of a women’s group that focuses on empowering and encouraging other women that I started last year. I am also writing a book about my spiritual journey sharing my personal challenges and how my faith helped me overcome them. I am excited to further my education as learning and developing myself is very important to me because I know I can apply the skills to help someone else.
