Research Requirements

Although your personal opinions on your topic may be passionate and heartfelt, if you do not provide research-based support that will convince your audience, you will not be as persuasive as possible. For this paper, you should use your research to provide additional background on your topic that your audience may not have gotten from your literature review, support your thesis, and address opposing views or alternative perspectives on the issue as necessary. Your final draft should include a minimum of 12 sources. These can include any sources from your literature review, but you should use at least six new sources as well. When possible, try to find sources from peer-reviewed scholarly publications.

You should also attempt to use at least some of the results of your field research as one of your sources in your final paper. Don't just drop your field research report into your final paper, however. Use excerpts of the information you gathered from your field research as you would use information from any other source by incorporating it strategically via quoting, summarizing, or paraphrasing.

Your final draft should be at least 2500 words, not including your works cited page.

Formatting

Your final draft should be double-spaced with 12-point font. Your margins must be one inch. You may choose to use either APA, MLA, or another citation style, but please specify which style you’re using.
