Instructions for Research Paper and Presentation

Each student will create their own research project, based on one of their expressed research interests at the beginning of the semester. The research study will not be carried out in reality, but all components will be completed with projection of results and likely discussion.

The following elements are required the paper:

Apply APA Style. The length of the paper should be in the range of 8 to 12 pages depending on how concisely you write while still covering all of the key points. Keep in mind that length alone does not equate to quality.

Criteria/Content

I. Title Page

II. Abstract – Concise and informative, including results

III. Literature Review

a. Include theoretical framework or model

b. Introduce research hypothesis

IV. Method

a. Research Design

b. Sampling

c. Measure/Instrument (Include in Appendix)

d. Data and type

e. Statistical Procedure

V. Results

a. Statistical analysis results from the chosen procedure

b. Report (realistic, created) results in clear, understandable terms

c. Use appropriate tables and figures

d. Do the results evaluate the stated problem

VI. Conclusions and Discussion

a. Relate the results back to the problem, theory, and previous findings.

b. Avoid excessive speculation, or over-concluding.

II. Follow the content areas of the paper

III. Use animation and images judiciously

IV. Use appropriate font size and color contrasts

V. Include audio in lieu of face to face presentation
