• much like a review article (3-5 pages) • survey of literature (3-5 papers) • pedagogical (teach the class about your topic)

Topic Guidelines

• pick a topic of interest • can be related to your research • talk to me about scope, approach, appropriateness • no recent review article published

Evaluation Criteria (oral 20%/written 30%)

• demonstrate knowledge and understanding • critical analysis of field, originality of thought • comprehensiveness, coherence story • oral presentation (20 min./10 min. discussion)

• Introduction – what are they, structure, pics, etc. - desirable properties • Synthesis - how are they made (diff. techniques) - adv./disadv. of each - (who does what) - what is state-of-the-art? • Characterization - diff. techniques adv./disadv. • Challenges and opportunities - major problems being actively worked on? - opportunities currently being missed? • Conclusions
