The impact of planning on the performance of organizations
Introduction
In the management of any organization, planning comes in to help decide on how the various personnel, resources, time, and ideas are made use of. This element of management has the impact of either making the performance of the organization better or worse. A good plan puts the organization in a position that allows them to fully make use of resources in a way that optimizes profits. A good plan too ensures that the activities of the organization are guided by time and that they meet clients’ deadlines.
Literature review
Planning has been taken in as an important factor in the performance of any organization. Many studies have been carried out to evaluate the impact of planning on organizations and (Schoeffler, et al, 1974) uses profit to review this. According to these researchers, sampling, a method of carrying out research, was used to determine the amount of profits different organizations were getting according to the plans they had. The samples revealed that the companies that used the best planning methods showed the highest profits.
Shrader et al, (2004) explains that strategic planning has a positive impact on general performance of any organization. To prove this, a survey of over 100 organizations was carried out. From the survey, an organization, regardless of how well equipped, required strategic planning to do well. Other than the survey, this article further reviews on others pieces of work to gather more information. From all the research, planning comes out as a major factor towards the proper running of activities in any organization. Organizing the management and putting them in positions that they can render guidelines to the junior staff requires planning.
As a part of planning, strategic planning has come in management to make it better. To find out the impact of this part of management of any organization a survey targeting 180 members of the staff in Nigeria Bottling Company. The sample of 124 was determined using the Taro Yemen formula. Innocent et al, (2017) explains that planning if properly executed goes a long way to improving the performance of any organization. The execution of instructions becomes easier if a plan is in place. The future of the organization becomes easier to determine if you have a plan of how you wish to have it be. Unless strategic planning is properly executed, the challenges that come with it include confusion and misunderstanding among the personnel.
Conclusion
From the samples and surveys carried out, planning has a positive impact on the general performance of the organization. The profits of the organizations are determined by balancing of the earnings against the expenses. The earnings can only increase if the performance or the activities of the organization are guided by the plan that the organization has in place. Through strategic planning, we have seen many organizations plan for the present and their future.
