Historical research design historical research looks at data that is already collected; how are you collecting your data? Is it a survey or historical data (as in data you would gather from a historical database, like previous weather or birth records). Are you collecting data from a survey?

Historical research design analyzes past events and develops the present conclusion. It analyzes the previous information and tests their validity. The purpose of historical research is to gather and synthesizes evidence from the past to defend or refute a claim. It is important to note that historical research depends upon data observed other than an investigator. Considering the research question, this research will involve careful and analysis of past events. In simple terms, it will involve a critical investigation of events, their development and future events relation to the process.

Typically, the research will rely on available data in forms of letters, diaries, and reports to mention a few. It will cover categories such as documentary, existing hospital records, nursing charts, order sheets etc. you will be able to gather all of this for one study? In addition to considering ethics here, you will also have to consider HIPPA.

Steps for creating methodologies

· Define the direction for the process

· Identify key issues that affect the quality of the process

· Determine the scope of research

· Execute the methodology

· Collect and measure performance

· Assess performance
