The paper which was done by Ethier (1986) takes a look at how illegal immigrants brings series of problems to the home country. According to the article US advocacy and policy on immigrants especially those who run away from war or political persecution is a major reasons for the influx of the illegal immigrant. The paper also highlights some of the common problems and legal frameworks that touches on illegal immigration and how they can be improved to address to problem. According to the article one of the major impact of illegal immigration has been an alteration of the labor markets. It therefore follows that they have to look for employment opportunities and they can take anything even if it is below the minimum wage. The impact on this has been a unhealthy competition for jobs by the these illegal immigrants.

This is another work that plays an important role in examining the correlation between illegal immigration and crime. Although the Mexican government is seen reluctant in addressing the problem, it turns out that uncontrolled immigration along the border has had some negative impact on stability.
