Part 1:

Read the 2 texts:

Writing from source texts is a complex and challenging task.  Writers must carefully distinguish between their ideas and the ideas of others. In U.S. academic contexts, writers are required to explicitly acknowledge or credit their sources.  If they do not, they may be perceived as acting dishonestly.  This act of acknowledge is often referred to as citation.    The articles by Li & Cassanave (2012) and Abasi & Graves (2008) aim to identify and make sense of some of the difficulties writers encounter when writing from source texts.  For this response to an argument, you will collaboratively write a response to these articles. In crafting your response, please adhere to the following guidelines: • Begin your response by briefly summarizing the two articles. • After your summary, state your response to the authors’ arguments.

In addition, be sure to: • Write in first person plural (e.g., “We noticed” We agree”) • Limit your response to 300 words • Make explicit reference to the readings in your response using proper APA style (e.g.,

“Abasi and Graves (2008) found”).

Part 2: craft 3 discussion questions related to the readings.

Guidelines are attached in another pdf file.
