1. Individual Assessment:Using the understanding you have gained through the material presented in this module and building on you wider reading and reflection on examples and your own practice as a manager or HRM professional, you are asked to write an essay.This individual assignment consists of a structured essay of around 2,500 words(+/- 200 words). This paper should demonstrate a good understanding of managing people & organisations as observed through the lectures and exercises in this module. It should also reflect on how the challenges link to current academic approaches to the subject.A synthesis of theory, examples from practice and reflections on group discussions is expected in your essay. The essay should have a definite structure, sub-headings and Harvard style references.You should choose an essay topic from one of the three topics below to demonstrate your grasp the theories and models covered during the module: Explore Employee engagement programs: do a critical evaluation. Are they tokenistic, not delivering promised outcomes, or do they add real value to the firm? If they don't, why do they fail? And if they succeed, how do they add value and in what way? As well as drawing from HRM theory you should also draw from several firms to make your arguments. Explore the impact of AI / technology on work, working practices and work culture in a post Covid-19 world. Discuss: HR is mostly operational and should be outsourced as much as possible to minimise waste, minimise distractions and maintain focus on the firms mission.This element of your assessment will be worth 70% of the total mark for the module.
