Response 1 ( 50 words)
n the poem, Living Tenderly by May Swenson the subject that comes to my mind is that she is comfortable in her own body. I get this sense when she says "my back is my roof" ( May Swenson). She describes as she feels as smooth as a rock, I personally have felt smooth rocks and the feeling is comfortable compared to a rougher rock. Another image I get is the sound of a calm lake as she compares to her body. I have seen and heard a lake, when there is just slight waves. The last sense I get from this poem is her comparing her bones being in her body as being tender. To me, she is saying her bones fit sweetly in her flesh. When I see tender, I instantly think of sweets or something soft or fragile. The importance of including the senses is to excite your readers. By creating these images by using the senses, it can help the reader relate and figure out what the narrative is about through these short stories.
