Reflective blog assignment
CS106 Reflective Blog Assignment
Read two articles about a current Canadian or global issue. At least one of these articles must be found using a library database.
Both articles must be no more than five years old (dates range between 2014-2019) and must come from a reliable source; Wikipedia, blogs, WebMD, About.com, Livestrong, WebMD, Hubpages, Yahoo.com, MSN, Google Books, and corporate websites are not appropriate for secondary research in college assignments. If you are unsure about the author/publisher of the information/source – DO NOT USE IT.
Use the guidelines on blogging discussed in class to write a 750-1000 word blog to reflect on this article. Reflection helps you to critically think about the information, to examine your understanding about the topic, and to identify ways you can use this information in the future. Use evidence to support your reflections by citing credible sources that reinforce theories and concepts discussed.
Summary: in 2-3 short paragraphs, summarize the articles you have read
· Follow the summary structure we explored in class (see the lecture PowerPoint)
Reflection: include four opinions about the articles that you then justify with evidence to support
This is where you would use the personal pronoun “I” in your writing.
Use the following to show how you engage in reflection:
· ideas and observations you have had and how they relate to the concept
· what you found confusing, inspiring, difficult, interesting and WHY
· questions you have and steps you will take to get answers
· alternative interpretations or perspectives of the concept
· how the concept challenged what you already knew
· comparisons and connections between the concept and
· your prior learning and experience
· your prior assumptions and preconceptions
· what you already know from other courses
Conclusion:
· briefly summarize what you have learned about the topic
· ends with a statement that brings the post to a close
Illustrations/Graphics: Include two graphics related to the topic’s content; these graphics should follow the structure for using graphics we discussed in class
· Identify/discuss the graphic before it appears; remember to refer to it
· Place the graphic within the text after you have discussed it
· Place a caption in the appropriate position; each caption should have the label/title and properly cite the source of the graphic
· Include the reference citation for all images on the reference page
Resources:
· Provide a short list of additional resources (3-5 links); these resources cannot include the articles you read
· Provide one media video/audio resource; this video may be embedded or simply linked
· All hyperlinks must work
APA Documentation:
· Follow proper APA documentation guidelines for crediting and referencing sources.
· Only use paraphrases in your writing – do not rely on direct quotations at all
· Include references for all sources used in the blog – the two articles you have read and the references for any images you have used
SafeAssign: Once you are satisfied with your blog, submit a copy to SafeAssign for plagiarism checking; review the report and make any necessary changes.
Once you have finalized your blog, submit it to the reflective blog assignment.
Response: After the deadline for blog posts has passed, go back to the blog assignment, read two blog posts, and respond to each post. Check the deadline for blog response postings and ensure you complete this by the deadline. Each response should be 200-250 words.
· discuss two things you learned from the posting
· discuss one thing you agree or disagree with
