Week 1
To achieve my weekly objectives, I found a space that makes me happy to effectively settle into a little planning kind of session for the tasks ahead. This helped me in getting a good mood for planning as well as organizing myself for the effective achievement of the Objectives.
A good example regarding a nursing advocate that has a strong political position is @NurseAdvocate5 on Twitter. Anne Llewellyn is identified as being a digital journalist as well as nurse advocate who is effectively engaged in the discussion regarding the protection of the wellness regarding the population of Florida. In one of her tweets “Setting Expectations in a complex Healthcare system” , she posts a certain link to her latest journal on the nurseadvocate.con which is associated with challenging the existing political climate, which is associated with the prevention of patients from accessing any kind of high quality as well as affordable healthcare. My position on the political stance regarding the tweet is that high level care should be a priority at all times and should not at any point be compromised. Collaborative kind of leadership is a key concept which is essential in the facilitating of change in the healthcare system and policies (Gaber, 2016).
The learning this week has helped me in understanding the importance of collaborative leadership in enhancing higher quality of care and service delivery in the healthcare organization. It helps in the delegation of responsibilities as well as effective decision making in terms of policy making.
Week 2
To achieve my weekly objectives, I made priorities in terms of my objectives for the week. I blocked out some time of about 30 minutes to work on my school objectives. This helped me in committing my time as well as making the best use out of it. I also ensured I gathered all the tools that I needed for my course objectives such as the planner as well as the calendar, journal and stickers.
The social determinant identified in the tweet is on age whereby old age has a high level Impact on the treatment and service delivery in the healthcare services in the community. There are incompetent practitioners for handling the old aged patients. To avoid this issue I would encourage education for the practitioners so they may understand how to effectively treat the old aged and in attaining efficiency on the same (O'Brien, 2013).
The best method to use in bringing the issue to attention to the individuals in power is by using emails and physical meetings to explain the issue at hand. I learned the skill of identification of needs in an issue and handling the same for enhanced political advocacy (Patton et al., 2015).
Week 3
To achieve the objectives of this week I reflected on last week. Looking back in my planner as well as my schedule and seeing what I did helps me in understanding what I accomplished and the manner in which I accomplished it and tying it to my long term goals. It also helps in understanding the progress of my objectives and how I can go about the following objectives. Having answers to these questions offers essential information on my objectives.
The single resource in the course which helped me to understand a particular concept is the course textbook. It is thorough as well as comprehensive in offering information which is needed in answering the most appropriate questions and concepts for the course. The concept in this case is the political advocacy in nursing specifically on the role of leadership in political advocacy. My understanding changed positively in that I am now able to understand the importance of leadership in enhancing positive changes in the nursing activities for improved health care quality. One aspect that I can implement in my practice is the management of weekly objectives and I can use it to be better at planning (Nickitas et al., 2016).
Week 4
To achieve my weekly objectives, I decided to look ahead on the long-term goals of the Objectives. Similar to the identified process regarding the looking back in time, it is vital to take a moment to look forward to the long-term goals. This is essential as it helped me in taking incremental steps in the given direction over a longer period of time. The added advantage is that it helps an individual to stay motivated at working towards the given objectives.
The learning activities in this week which I can implement are the activities on efficient leadership roles. This will not only help me in understanding leadership roles in nursing but also in personal development. I can use the knowledge as well as skills to achieve effective management of oneself. The tweet that is relevant to me is the one on the role of nurses on management of Covid 19 pandemic. My perspective on this is that the nurses have a duty to play in ensuring the management of Covid 19 but it is important for the community to play a key role on the management of the pandemic (Holloway, 2017).
Week 5
To achieve the weekly objectives, I was involved in the identification of the few objectives for the week ahead. I started by brainstorming the weekly goal ideas on the basis of my thoughts as well as ideas. This helped me in understanding the logical steps to use in the achievement of my objectives. I also prioritized them to avoid wasting of time. Also my weekly goals were small due to the time I had to attain them and I did not want to have expectations that I cannot meet (Ellis, 2014).
This education has helped me a lot through knowledge as well as training and education which has been offered which is highly essential to the industry and the specific job. Experience that I have gained will help me in performing duties that will help me in advocating for the rights of other individuals. Values as well as ethics and workstyle usually allows for enhanced success in a company (Hodes et al., 2019).
My organization supports my emerging as well as current professional identity. The company has a higher value for professional identity as being the primary influence on the company’s achievement. My learning especially on professional identity can help me in enhancing effective relations to the profession by enhancing the creation of beliefs and even motives.
Week 6
To achieve the weekly objectives, I formulated a specific as well as measurable goal statement. I made it to be specific as well as succinct. It was not hard due to the fact that usually weekly goals are always small enough that they are not in any way wordy or even complex (DENISCO, 2021).
There is the need to understand the influence of nurses on policy making as a key form regarding political competence inclusive of awareness as well as political Processes and in the comprehensive understanding of the key procedures’ which to impact legislative processes. Political activity usually takes the identified work of nurses from being a discreet even in a single Setting as well as it raises it to an identified societal level. A lot of these types of social determinants regarding health can be affected via political decisions. Nurses can assist in the protection of health care access for the vulnerable kinds of populations. This will help in shaping policies which impact the nursing practice (Chaffee, 2015).
Week 7
To achieve my weekly objectives, I set deadlines as well as reminders and even time for my objectives. Weekly goals are solely a week long, but it is vital to set reminders for oneself in the entire week. Once I finalized my weekly goals, I identified deadlines as well as reminder days for each then blocked time out in my planner for my work. This will help in the achievement of success in the Objectives (Patton et al., 2015).
I had knowledge gaps in my Knowledge was the communication aspects that are needed in political advocacy in nursing. However, through the course, I have been able to attain knowledge needed for answering the knowledge gaps. There are three things that I have learned from this course that have filled my knowledge gaps. There is the role of nurses in political advocacy as well as leadership roles in political advocacy and using communication tools such as social media for effective political advocacy (Nickitas et al., 2016).
