Final Project-Reflection Paper

Context and Rationale: I will be teaching at West Tallahatchie Middle School in West

Tallahatchie School District. This school has an ethnic population. This unit will be the first,

therefore students will not have a prior one. 7th grade students will have a breakthrough of how

science draws an analogy to their other classes noticing the natural world for the purpose to make

results about it. They will have some skills in performing these tasks. Students had units on

advantages and disadvantages of mitosis and meiosis, which will help them in the proximate

analysis section of this unit. Understudies will disclose the capacities important to maintain life

for reproduction. I will measure what understudies definitely know. I will utilize cues, questions,

and organizers for my independent assignments. I will have them contribute a real-life scenario

to show me what I am talking about. For example, students can say mom and dad reproduce to

have me.

Integration of the Marzano 9 Best Practices: Understudies will initially inquire What

is sexual and asexual reproduction? This will let students ponder the difference among the two.

Marzano’s similarities and differences and homework and practice will be implemented during

this time. Students will learn the difference among the two and know why reproduction is

important to the environment. Another essential questions my students will inquire is What role

does mitosis and meiosis play in sexual and asexual reproduction? Students will investigate how

mitosis and meiosis leads to genetic variations. Marzano’s generating and testing hypothesis and

cooperative learning will be beneficial for this activity. Students will be grouped in twos to

discuss. Students will share what their guesses are to the role of mitosis and meiosis.

Learning Objective and Standards: Students will develop the abilities to comprehend

the part of the cell cycle in the development of cells and the contrast among mitosis and meiosis.

Layout what the cell is attempting to do and comprehend the distinction among the two. I will

have them contribute a real-life scenario to show me what I am talking about. For example,

students can say mom and dad reproduce to have me. Since there is a lot of information to

remember on mitosis and meiosis, I will break down the tasks into smaller ones. Students will

be able to tackle the assignment. I will show students what to do, therefore they will understand

the necessary steps doing the assignment. My biggest mistake was getting the collaborative

assignments together. For some reason I could not get the assignment appropriate for the

objective. Monday and Wednesday will be the class reading days to collect information needed

to answer handouts. This is where setting objectives and providing feedback comes into play.

Video Presentation: Visual aids will be shown of different plants and animals

reproducing. Modern classroom model works better for me than PowerPoint. I can fuse

diagrams, courses of events, graphs, guides, and pictures to furnish understudies with portrayals

they can see. On my first pod video presentation, I didn’t show engagement and it was just plain.

After watching the Modern Classroom model, I found ways to make my presentations enlighten

and fun-sort of speak. I was able to move my cursor to show the students what I was talking

about. I felt connected with the students on the next three pods by drawing images to show them

what I was talking about. Having annotations will help students think critically and students are

able to communicate with one another by asking questions or simply commenting.

Learning Model-Collaborative Learning, Independent Practice, Mastery Checks-

The strengths of the Modern Classroom are it teaches students important life skills and students

become more independent in resolving issues. The weaknesses of the model are it’s not a stand-

alone model and teachers have enough curriculum to teach. This is a good model to incorporate

because it teaches students to solve conflict independently and peacefully. I would simply take

big chunks of the assignment and break them down into smaller ones. For example, the stages of

mitosis. I will start off my teaching the different stages and then follow with another lesson on

what’s happening in each stage. The lesson will build on one other. Students will be able to help

each other out collaboratively. Students who are struggling will be paired with students who have

excel the mastery. They will be teaching and learning from each other.

Overall Reflection- As I worked through this model, I have learned student’s

engagement is top priority. Proverb 22:6 states, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and

when he is old, he will not depart from it.” I will teach a child technique to get them involved in

the process of learning. Understudy commitment can be estimated in various manners, and doing

so is significant, as this can assist me with looking at exercises, courses, and approaches, and

make acclimations to improve commitment levels. Be that as it may, understudy commitment

must be accomplished when understudies are genuinely put resources into their own learning and

take a functioning revenue in it, which expects me to utilize the right understudy commitment

procedures. On one of my pods, I decided to let the students take control over their learning. My

students who understand the knowledge are able to work with one another. For the struggling

ones, I will be able to work with them one on one. This model has taught me to keep students

active and students are responsible participants in the learning process. “Many are called, but few

are chosen,” the bible states. I will be the role model and reach to the students. This course has

taught me all the necessary steps I need to take to succeed in my classroom. Whether it is online

or face to face interaction, I must be organized and prepared to engage students. Students have

to be drawn in and challenge in an unexpected way.
