reflection
I think the " Heterogeneity by the Numbers Project" is the assignment that fulfills this goal. This assignment was to search and find 6 or more data points that represent the Portland area and reorganize it in a different type of visual that’s easy to navigate data from it and then analyze it in a reflection at the end of the chart's pages. I did 7 data points,
and each had me accomplish a connections about the Portland theme. First, It really made me learn new things and thinking about how I can do the project especially that I am not good with Technology and designing chart so it was challenging for me that I had to work hard to examine the charts, collect information and trying to apply it in another concept and at the end analyzing all of this information and summarize it to a short reflection essay.
Communication:
This goal is about developing communication skills in many ways. writing is one of the ways that help the student communicate by evaluating others work and so. Moreover, group work is the best way to enhance these skills.
The penal presentation is the best assignment that represents the communication goal well. It had us working in groups for two weeks and communicating with each other and working together. It also taught me how to collect, Summarizes and synthesizes information into a well-organized style. Moreover, this assignment had us to think out of the box and made us come up with solutions that might be good to apply it here in Portland and to search for the obstacles that might these solutions face and try to bring solutions for it. we didn't have a power point to present so my Policy Memo talks about the solution that I think is better and good to be applied here in Portland.
In addition to that, the " Representation Analysis" is the assignment that improved my skills in communication since it's also a project that required working in a group. Moreover, me and the group members worked together on gathering information and present it in front of the class. for me this was the best assignment this term since I had so much fun working on it with my group.
This goal is to explore and analyze identity, power relationships, and social justice in historical contexts and contemporary settings from multiple perspectives.
"left-Handed Commencement Address Response Essay " is one of the best assignments that represent this goal strongly. This assignment was about "Ursula Le Guin in her speech during a graduation ceremony in Mills College "reading that talks about how women should be and giving such a deep speech to women to help them stand for their rights and be brave. Moreover, this assignment taught me how to think deeply and beyond the text. In addition, this assignment developed my summarizing skills since it has me reading this long speech and understand it and then try to summarize it. Also, I learned how to View issues from multiple perspectives as we have been discussing the speech in the class together and we gathered a lot and different points of view.
The Right to the City Paper had us accomplished this goal especially the diversity and social justice points. This had been achieved by this assignment because it had us to think about people rights in cities and thinking about how justice can be achieved to all people no matter who they are and what's their ethnicities are. Moreover this assignment made us think deeply and taught me a lot of information about the services that the public needs and it's about equality in communities and for all people. my topic was about the health care and how it should be accessible for all the people in the city.
Ethical Issues and Social Responsibility
The best example of achieving this goal is the " Vanport Speed Research Paper " in this assignment we developed the skills of searching for information, identifying ethical issues and state justifications for or arguments against a specific action like the evacuation action taking from the government. Moreover, we learned a lot about Portland society and the government.
I BELIEVE THAT EACH assignment that was in this class accomplished this goals,…. Since I worked with a lot of students from different countries, I accomplished diversity. In general, this class is pretty diverse. even the section itself 'Portland'. Portland is a very diverse city.
