BASIC RULES:

· Reference page must be titled “References” (not “Works Cited” or “Reference Page”)

· Sources must be listed in alphabetical order by authors’ last names (per source, not per article/book; use the same order the names come in on the article/book)

· All lines after first line of each entry should be indented one-half inch from left margin (called a hanging indent)

· Author names are inverted (last name comes first); Use initials for first and middle names. ALL authors names must be listed (cannot use “et al.”)

· All entries need to be double-spaced

· Publication year is always listed in parentheses after the author/organization name(s)

· For books, articles, or web pages, only capitalize the first letter of the first word of the title and any proper nouns (words such as states, countries, names, etc.)

· If the title has a subtitle, you will also capitalize only the first letter of the first word after the colon or dash

· If a website or article does not have an author or sponsoring organization, start the entry with the title instead, followed by publication year
