Research Topic Choice

The research topic that I have chosen is centered around the question: Is there a connection between the number of hours worked and how many hours of sleep you get? My variables are:

· Is the student male or female.

· Does the student work part-time (20 hours or less) or full-time (40 hours or more)

· How many hours of sleep does the student get on average a night (less than 5 hours or 6 or more hours).

This topic is something I am genuinely curious about as I work over 40 hours a week and average 7 or less hours of sleep. Granted I also have to take medication to assist with me sleeping at times this does not always work in my favor. There are also times where I am able to sleep 10 hours or more on days that I do not have to work. I am interested to know if others have this same struggle, and the variables it depends on. I really expect to collect some conclusions with this experiment.

Research Question: Is there a connection between the number of hours worked and how many hours of sleep you get?

Hypothesis: People who work part-time hours are able to get more sleep than those work full-time hours.

Statistical analysis: Correlation coefficient
