Referendum
Promoting the Referendum
Introduction:
Consider you are working as a principal in a district that is trying to pass a levy referendum to raise funds for schools. If the referendum passes, taxes on a $200,000 home will increase by $250 per year. The average home in your district is valued at $180,000. Only 30% of the households in your district have school-aged children, while 70% do not. The superintendent has asked that you, as principal of the only high school in the district, write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper arguing in favor of the levy referendum.
Instructions:
1. Write a 2-3 page letter outlining why the citizens of your community should support this effort.
2. Cite evidence from the course readings or other scholarly sources. 3. In-text citations are not required for your letter, however please include an
APA formatted reference page for any sources used to draft your letter.
