Strategy and Implementation Summary
Group 5
Name: MSS - Mass-Sense-Systems
Idea:
Our strategy is to market a system of individual parking spot sensors, which will connect to one another to manage parking at a defined location. This location-based spot availability system provides the ability to guide vehicles to open spaces, instead of the vehicle driving around wasting time looking for open spots. The sensor itself will be designed to be placed on the ground at the top end of the spot, detecting if there is a vehicle within that specified area. By connecting the sensors together via Wi-Fi, the system will be able to show each spot’s availability on their own system. These products and system will be directly aimed at marketing towards businesses with larger parking areas such as airports, schools, colleges, grocery stores, office complexes, sports complexes, hospitals, and downtown parking. Clients could potentially design their own system, or use other pre-made software, to view parking analytics using our product, given that they all connect to one another via Wi-Fi.
Value Proposition:
Now more than ever, people are in a hurry to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. These sensors, once installed in a parking garage, will prevent vehicles from inefficiently wasting time moving through larger parking lots looking for places to park. Allowing the vehicle to be notified of the best available parking space allows for the maximum efficiency and ergonomic use of space. Customers in large volume parking lots with high value clients at the aimed markets would not only have the value of the service allowing them to be more efficient, but also allow them to feel a personal satisfaction from working in a high technology, sophisticated environment. There is no such service in American parking lots, so our primary market will be American parking lots, allowing us to be the primary provider of the service in the United States, and allowing us to be the first large provider of the service in the United States markets. Our system would be compatible to multiple systems due to using wi-fi as opposed to a proprietary system, allowing for cheaper overall cost compared to our competitors, as well as allowing our customers to have more flexibility in how they set up the system. Offering inexpensive, flexible purchase packages will allow the customers we market to feel like they have agency in the final purchase, giving us a higher value than our competition.
Revenue Model:
Our business will utilize a mixture of three different revenue models, sales, advertising, and affiliate. Most of our revenue will come from sales and therefore we will predominantly utilize the sales model. Our main customers will be large firms buying in bulk when constructing new or upgrading current parking garages, so specialized pricing strategies will be used to incentivize buying in bulk. The company website will use both advertising from targeted sources such as google as well as offering links to affiliate companies that offer systems that support our products such as computerized parking management systems, as well as construction firms that are familiar with the installation and functionality of our sensors. Advertising and affiliate revenue sources are secondary and are not expected to provide a very large share of the revenue; profits generated in these areas will most likely be used to cover the cost for server hosting and maintenance fees.
1. Central E-commerce Idea
Our company, Mass-Sense-Systems, will produce relatively cheap and reliable sensors to the general public to be mass purchased business to business with the end goal of allowing the purchaser of our product to more efficiently utilize their parking spaces. These sensor systems will be designed with a flat top and spherical to allow the weight of a large vehicle to disperse the weight of the device. With a simple laser system, the devices will be able to detect if a car is above the sensor or not. All devices will be connected to a central cloud hub that keeps account of each device and if a vehicle is or is not in the space. The cloud will then offer an application service, downloaded on any smartphone, that allows users to find the most efficient parking space.
2. Executive Summary
2.1 Objectives
The central goal is to provide an easily accessible, relatively low cost technology to the customers of the businesses we sell to, targeting large business markets with large parking lots, such as malls or supermarkets. Future outreach objectives will target markets that are higher end, with multilevel parking such as a medical research center or a government base, and at that juncture we will offer either the traditional package or enhanced, specialized presentations based on the needs of the business we are providing the service to.
2.2 Mission
Make good decisions to make the world an easier place to live in.
2.3 Keys to Success
Our initial primary key to success will be effective marketing attached to cost effectiveness, to place our product into the social sphere. Lower costs with efficient usage will create a demand for the product at more locations with a snowball effect, allowing an expansion into both more widespread and more specialized market endeavors.
