Project 4: M365 Application Workloads
Part 1: Add Michael Pattison to the Domain Admins Group
Step 1: Log in to the Windows Server 2019 VM, Go to Active Directory Users and
Computers tool from Windows Server Manager and add Michael Pattison to the Domain
Admin Group. Copy the screenshot to Part 1 Step 1 of the submission document.
Step 2: From Active Directory Users and Computers, bring up the user properties of the
Michael Pattison account. Go to the Account tab and change the User logon name from
Michael Pattison to mpattison.
Part 2: Configure Global Office Download Options
Step 1: Log in to your portal with your user id (e.g. jsmith@johnsmithumgc.onmicrosoft.com)
from https://admin.microsoft.com and click on Show All.
Go to Settings > Org Settings. Click on Office Installation Options. Change the options from
Current Channel to Monthly Enterprise Channel and uncheck the box Skype for Business. Don’t
forget to save the change. Take a screenshot showing the Options changed and copy it to Part 2
Step 1 of the submission document.
Part 3: Assign Microsoft Office License to a User
Step 1: From the https://admin.microsoft.com tab go to Users and Active Users. Click on
Michael Pattison to bring up the user properties. Go to the Licenses and Apps tab and
assign the Office 365 E5 license. Do not forget to save changes. Take a screenshot
showing the licensed assignment and copy it to Part 3 Step 1 of the submission
document.
Part 4: Assign Microsoft Office License to a User
Step 1: Log in to the Microsoft Windows Server Virtual Machine as mpattison with
password (P@$$Word5). Note. The password is from the users we created as part of Project 2
Step 3. If you have a login issue, you can log in as an administrator and reset the password.
Login to the https://portal.office.com with the user ID of
mpattison@XXXXXXXumgc.onmicrosoft.com and password of (P@$$Word5). Replace
XXXXXXX with your domain name.
Click on Install Office and Office 365 apps. OfficeSetup.exe will be downloaded to the
computer. Install Office by clicking on Run.
Once the setup is completed, open Microsoft Word. Click on Account and take a
screenshot showing Michael Pattison as a licensed user in your M365 tenant. Copy the
screenshot to Part 4 Step 1 of the submission document.
Lab Challenges
Challenge 1 – Login as another user (i.e. spandya) to Windows Server 2019 and check
the user’s license by launching Word.
