For the midterm project you will watch several videos, compare and contrast varied skill levels of second language learners, and present your findings in a paper and presentation.

Instructions

Watch several videos from the following playlist  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLh_cfDwS8mrvYJpTINKRA9pWrEKfO-2tZ  and choose two videos of different speaking skill levels. Write a 2-3 page paper in APA format containing the following:

1. Identify the following language elements in the videos selected:

a. bilabials

a. labiodentals

a. dentals

a. alveolars

a. palatals

a. velars

a. glottals

1. Identify the similarities and differences between the two videos.

1. Compare and contrast the speakers’ pronunciations.

1. Illustrate examples of assimilation, nasalization, or elision.

1. Point out examples of compound words or neologisms.

1. Detect examples of perseveration, anticipation, or exchange.

1. Examine some possible barriers to second language learning.
