TITLE

E-Secondary schools

(Tanzania)

Based on Patrics and Powell (2009) search on the effectiveness of K-12 online learning, it was proved that students taking online study are performed better than those who attend face to face instruction in school. Online education has been performing well for a decade and maybe now it is a time for Africa countries to follow the step.

E-Secondary school is the online platform that will be designed to provide online education in Tanzania for secondary students (middle schools to high school level). This project is going to provide online learning for students all over the county with low cost, a flexible class with the shortest time. This project will include teachers and instructors within a country and outside a country to ensure the students acquire the best knowledge of the world. For students to attend they need to have their computer and internet connection also before enrolling to class every student is required to have the basic knowledge of computer and English language.

This project will be interesting in my group because online education is familiar to most people in the USA. Doing online learning in a developing country is current demand as far as we are looking forward to developing the system of education in third world countries. This project will provide a workable environment for people from a different country to participate in it. There is a higher need for the flexible learning environment in most of Tanzania that why this project is important in the country.

On this project the team members are geographically dispersed in various places in World, this will help the success of the E-secondary schools. The project is new to the country so there is a higher need for external knowledge from other countries in the area of management, software and website development, quality insurance, and marketing research. The project will provide a chance for a team from the US, Tanzania, South Africa, Mongolia, Japan, and Bangladesh to work together as a team toward the accomplishment of the project.

Providing online education at the secondary level is going to be new ideas in local societies that come with a lot of challenges. Most of the parents in Tanzania are aware of the effectiveness of internet education, some they believe that internet education will be a source of immoral behavior to their children. Also, the cost of school plus other expenses may discourage parent to apply for, internet connection and power supply are not reliable in some part of Tanzania and the number of teachers available to teach.

To address those challenge above, the project will initially partner with a K-12 school in the US as to control all management of E-secondary school in Tanzania and lower the cost. Also, there will be a team from Mongolia who will coordinate the education curriculum of Tanzania and the US with the help of Tanzania department of Education. These teams will see which kind of teacher are qualified to teach classes in Tanzania and also providing training to the domestic teachers who are ready to work part-time. The project team from Japan will be assigned a task of produce power machine that will be providing electric power and internet device that will solve the issue of unreliable power and internet supply. The other team from Bangladesh will be busy to develop the software and website that students and teacher will log in to the E-secondary school. The last team from South Africa will concentrate on the marketing and public relation, this team will collaborate with team from Tanzania to provide education to various societies in Tanzania about important of online education and how it is operated.
