Heuristic Usability Analysis

Step 1

Complete and submit a heuristic usability analysis of the user interface.

Usability Test Plan Design a usability test. It should include: Scenarios - you created in Project 2 Tasks for the participant to complete Task list (what you think the participant will do. These are more like goals for the participant. Do not read them to the participant.) Qualitative measurement list (These are general measurements that are derived by analyzing qualitative observation of the participant and answers for post test questions.) Potential observations of participant (Specific observation that will support the qualitative measurements.) Post Scenario interview and questionnaire questions. Your usability test should include a verbal interview with the participant so that your usability test can explore issues that you have not foreseen.

Step 2

Usability Data Find at least two representative users from your target population, relating to your user personas. You may use the discussion board in the course to ask for participation from your fellow peers. Conduct a formative evaluation with each user:

· Provide your briefing of the user interface.

· Then provide the tasks one at a time, observe, and take notes.

Step 3

Recommendations Collect the usability problems found by your user tests into a list. Assign each problem a severity rating (cosmetic, minor, major, catastrophic). Brainstorm and recommend possible solutions for the problems.

Step 4

In Word or PowerPoint, include the usability test plan, usability data, and recommendations. Submit this document.
