You will be reviewing a pro forma for a hospital deciding on whether to begin providing a particular service.  Within the pro forma, there will be financial information based on three different assumptions.  You are to assume the role of a board member for this health care organization and will be decided based on the pro forma and other sources whether or not to approve starting the service at the hospital.  You will write a one to two-page paper with your recommendations on whether to approve this service or not.  There will be other factors that could be considered such as physician relationships, competition, competing priorities, patient safety, and quality which may or may not need to be considered in your final recommendation. Other things which need to be looked at in terms of your final decision include your biggest competitor is looking at going from a fixed unit to a mobile unit that would travel to other hospitals.  There is also another pro forma within the organization which is looking at adding a new MRI unit to the hospital while the margin for the unit is higher than the lithotripsy proposal the cost of the new MRI is 3 million dollars, and the physicians are not pushing for it as compared to the urologists who have been wanting to provide this service at the hospital for years.  In addition, you have a major donor to the hospital who is very interested in this project
