Formatting is important because it shows that you can follow directions, it provides consistency, shows practice of discipline and adherence to standards, and allows you to focus on your efforts and context. this can also help you excel in your career and make you a more organized writer.  I would have to agree from what I read in my research. Think about when you started writing oapawrs in middle school and how they may have been a little unorganized or seem to start off topic. You may have even provided more details in the writing then needed but when you started high school and started to take harder literature classes, they showed you how to mold and organize your thoughts and facts.  https://purdueglobalwriting.center/2015/05/13/the-importance-of-formatting/?amp
