As the title suggests, a problem-solution essay describes a problem and presents a solution to it. Typically, this essay will:
1. Discuss the problem in some length.
2. Explains why it is important to find a solution to the problem.
3. Presents a solution.
4. Explains why the solution would work.
5. Addresses objections to the solution presented.
Option 1 : Pick ONE of these topics for your paper:
1. Homelessness among college students.
2. Guns on college campuses.
3. Student loan debt.
4. Bullying.
5. Illiteracy.
6. Gun violence.
7. Childhood Obesity.
8. Endangered Wildlife.
9. Workplace discrimination.
10. Depression
Option 2 : You can choose a topic that interests you if you do not want to write on the topics listed above. But, if you choose to do so then you must email me your topic for my permission before you proceed with the assignment. This is mandatory if you choose your own topic . Papers that are written on topics not listed above but did not get prior permission from me will receive no more than a C grade.
Your goals in this assignment:
1. Interest your reader in the problem.
2. Show the reader why the problem is important.
3. Present your solution clearly.
4. Convince the reader that your solution is feasible.
5. Convince the reader that your solution is better than other solutions.

Paper Requirements:
1. Clear thesis statement telling the reader what your argument will be.
2. New Times Roman, Font 12
3. 6 pages minimum (about 12 lines or more page on the 6th page) and a Works Cited page. 5% will be deducted from papers which do not meet the page length requirement.
4. Works Cited page in MLA format
5. At least one quote from each of your sources properly cited in text in MLA format
6. No more than 5 quotes in the paper; no more than one block quote
7. No use of first person
8. Free of grammatical and sentence level errors
Research requirements:
1. 3 minimum sources
2. 5 maximum sources
3. No .com sources
4. No sources that are shorter than 2 pages
5. No anonymous sources
