Upgrading the Healthcare in Anderson, Texas

Healthcare is fundamental for every human being. Healthcare providers target primary prevention to reduce disease transmission, hospital bills and high mortality rates (Mungia et al., 2021). Anderson County in Texas is among the lowly ranked localities in health factors and health outcomes. Health should be provided to every resident of Anderson with equity measures, without the discrimination of race, age, gender, or religious disparities. The county faces challenges in attaining quality healthcare, such as increased unhealthy behaviors, poor economic factors and reduced clinical care. Housing problems, air pollution and violent crimes are among the contributors to poor health within the County (County Health Rankings, 2022). I am obliged to deliver health reports that meet the population's needs as the deputy secretary in the health office. The county's public health is required to uphold and consider the following issues and find solutions to attain wellness of the population; adult smoking, physical inactivity, excessive drinking, reduced primary physicians, air pollution and low birthweight.

The county's adult smoking rate is 22%, while at the state level is 15%. The unhealthy behavior puts smokers at risk of lung cancer, drug dependency and cardiovascular illnesses like hypertension. It should therefore be abolished through programs or legislation. Maternal-child health is critical to improving the quality of living for the young population. A low birthweight of 7% is recorded in Anderson in 2022. The population should be educated on perinatal care and nutritional modification. The county should ensure that all women give birth to children with standard weights to reduce the mortality and morbidity of newborns (Yu et al., 2018). Adopting healthy living is key to improving the county's general population's wellness. 20% of the population engages in excessive drinking that is unhealthy. It is associated with chronic illnesses such as diabetes. Through the public health department, the population should be educated on the risks of binge drinking and encouraged to engage in healthy leisure activities.

The health department has considered actions to improve the number of primary physicians for improved healthcare. Some diseases require specialists for comprehensive care and management. Increasing student enrolment in the program to increase the number of healthcare practitioners is prudent to ensure the physician-patient ratio is not large. The ratio in Anderson is 2620:1, which means that most of the patients will not attain health services. County Health Rankings 2022 argues that pollution impacts the health of Anderson negatively; 9.6% is linked to air pollution, while in Texas State is lower (Mungia et al., 2021). The industrial wastes in the air and vehicle fumes of burned fuel are dangerous to human health, especially to the respiratory. There are more injury deaths of 95, while at the state level, they are 60 more children in poverty in Anderson and housing problems that negatively impact the health outcomes.

The stakeholders within the county government have the mandate of implementing health strategies in Anderson. The governor should contribute to the success of Anderson's health goals and plans through being supportive, uplifting better decisions and united leadership towards wellness. Various programs should be constructed that specifically address the health concerns such as smoking. For instance, there should be health education on smoking cessation, a restricted age for smoking, and avoiding marketing tobacco products. Chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity are catastrophic, and their patient numbers are increasing rapidly; they require swift interventions such as engaging in physical activities and diet modification (County Health Ranking, 2022). The county will rely on the leadership to move to the next level. Public health should be prioritized for health attainment and reduced health risks within the county. Community-based programs should be launched with the aims of primary prevention of diseases and ensuring public environmental health safety.
