presentation brief and basic
Readings 35 and 36
Today in class we will discuss animal rights. What properties give someone - or some thing - rights? In particular, we will distinguish between different kinds of rights. You will need to give some thought to the question of what you think "having a right" actually means.
Here is a webpage on animal rights. It describes 11 areas of possible interest. Using the readings, and one of these areas, outline a case concerning animal rights (in the first slide); then prepare the rest of your presentation based on that case. Be sure to present a formal argument to defend your solution to the case (summarize case, possible solutions, support for different solutions, objections, ethical theory applications, what you would do and why).
