Growing up this is what society lead me to believe this is what I should look like.
I am Latina, and growing up with very a Latin grandparents, what is seen in this picture was considered to be unacceptable.
This picture is and example of how men and women are stereotyped in subjects such as math. Especially Latin women such as myself compared to other ethnicities like Asians.
Girls like myself growing up always have some sort of issue with Self- Esteem due to how people treat you.
Emotions are stereotyped as a feminine character. Men who show emotions are seen as less of a man. Which I believe this is not true.
As I grow up I realize how there is different types of eye contact and the way you look at someone can mean something different. For example: Buisness, sexual, friendly, etc.
Women nowadays are always told to smile. I first hand know this because I’m constantly told that I’m never happy. Having a serious face doesn’t mean that one is not happy, it just means they have different form of expressing. It’s not a must for women in order to be happy need to show a smile.
The picture shows two women of privilege and two men in what seems to be high end government office. The women can take part in making decisions that affect their country just like men in the same status.
The picture shows two women in a podium and it seems that they are giving speech to an audience concerning issues in the society. The women are privileged to be there may because of their individual hard work. Therefore, they get the same opportunities with their male counterparts to participate in various events in the society.
The picture shows a woman taking what seems like breakfast in a serene environment. The woman is privileged to be in such a setting as she can do what she want at her will without depending on a man for anything
