Who, What, Where, Why, and When (Milestone Two)

[Patterns (provide DATA/GRAPHS):]

Natural disasters kill around 60,000 people annually.

They are responsible for 0.1% deaths and hence affects the mental health of those who loose their loved ones.

Around 6,800 natural disasters happen every year (Palinkas & Wong, 2020).

Most affected areas are Texas, California and Oklahoma.

[Causes:]

Greenhouse emissions from human activities.

Drilling of oil.

Improper waste management.

[Effects:]

Increased respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.

Premature deaths and injuries from extreme weather conditions.

Lack of clean water and inadequate food supply.

Climate change and related issues are very common and kill around 60,000 people because of natural disasters. Climate change is taking place because of human activities such as industrialization and emissions from cars that release harmful chemicals to the environment. Families are affected as they are loosing their loved ones and people are loosing properties and investments. The areas that are most affected by the climate change include Texas and California where people suffer psychological issues related to the disasters.

Who, What, Where, Why, and When (Milestone Two)

[Social Determinants:]

Socio-economic status of the affected individuals- individuals that are not economically stable are affected more by the climate change.

Age- the elderly are the most vulnerable because they have no enough income to get their life back on track (Hayes et al., 2018).

[Known Disparities:]

Older people take time to recover from the psychological effect of incidences related to climate change.

People who are financially unstable recover faster because they are able to start their life over again easily.

People with pre existing psychological issues are affected more by climatic changes.

The people who are elderly and those who are not financially stable are more affected and this is because they have more worries of how they will stabilize after loss of property due to climatic changes.

Those with pre existing psychological conditions will suffer more stress at the slightest inconvenience compared to the people who are mentally stable.
