Project implementation - Research on obesity and weight management

Introduction

The implementation phase of the research on obesity and weight management is essential. The

problem which will be under investigation is obesity and weight management among individuals

in the united states of America. Moreover, many people in the world are dying from overweight

and obesity-related conditions, which include cancer, diabetes, hypertension, among many others

(The health effects of overweight and obesity, 2020). Hence, it has increased challenges facing the

healthcare system since the hospitals are congested due to the inflow and admission of patients

who are affected by overweight and obesity conditions. Consequently, the healthcare

professionals, including the nurses, suffer from burnouts due to a large number of such patients to

be attended to. Therefore, implementation of the research on overweight and obesity conditions

and the impact of overweight and obesity management programs will be beneficial to reduce such

conditions among the populations in the United States of America. The executions of the

implementation phase of a research project are often the longest process. Hence, for an effective

implementation process, there are management steps or processes such as cost, time, risks, change,

and quality (Project executing processes, n.d.). Other management processes involved are

customer acceptance, procurement, and communications.

Time management

Time management will involve the control and monitoring time within the Project. Hence, time

management will involve the required time spent for every activity. For example, it involves the

time, which the researchers will take to build the deliverables within the Project (Project executing

processes, n.d.). Therefore, time management will enhance the assurance of completion of a

particular task within the required period. Hence, it will help in controlling the time spent on

various activities within the research project. There are important factors within the time

management to be observed (Lima, Mesquita, & Fernandes, 2012). For example, timesheets will

be used to monitor the time spent by the researchers. Time management issues will be identified

and resolved. A process for recording time within the Project will be put in place (8. Planning and

implementation, n.d.). The project plan will be kept up to date, during al time of the entire project

implementation process. The following is an example of a schedule for the research project:

Cost management

The process of cost management will help in monitoring and even reporting all the project

expenses, which are within the Project. The research team will record the costs, with the help of

expense forms. The forms will then be reviewed and approved by the project managers, before the

expense items, which will be purchased (Project executing processes, n.d.). The process of cost

management will ensure that the expenses for the Project are approved, especially before any

purchasing is done, identify each of the initial costs within the Project, including keeping a central

record of all costs incurred and control the overall cost of the Project. Hence, it will generally help

in controlling the expenses in the course of the project implementation (8. Planning and

implementation, n.d.). Besides, it will ensure that only the approved purchases of expenses take

place to ensure efficient use of project finances, hence prevent running out of finances. The

following is the table showing the intended project activities’ cost:

Quality management

The quality management process will enhance the improvement of the quality of the project team

members in the development of deliverables. Hence, quality management will help to boost the

quality of deliverables and achieve total success. Consequently, it will enhance the fulfillment of

essential factors such as setting quality targets to be met by the Project’s tea members, takes

appropriate actions, which will be needed to measure the levels of quality, report on the overall

quality achieved, and identify the quality improvements and issues. It is important to note that,

through the quality management process, other activities such as quality assurance, quality control,

quality improvement, and quality management can be undertaken (8. Planning and

implementation, n.d.). Hence, it will lead to efficient research on overweight and obesity among

individuals and identify efficient management of such conditions.

Change management

The change management process will help in managing any forms of changes within the Project.

Change management. This step will make it easier to easily monitor and control the amount of

change, which takes place. Moreover, it will enhance the identification of requests for change,

confirming each change’s feasibility, control how change is undertaken, and management of

change approval (8. Planning and implementation, n.d.). Hence, any forms of change will be

managed effectively. Hence, it is not that the forms of change will not be prevented from

happening, but it is the management of change once it occurs, especially those that matter for the

success of the Project.

Risk management

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION - RESEARCH ON OBESITY AND WEIGHT

MANAGEMENT7

The risk management process will help in engaging in steps, which are essential in implementing

risk management in the course of the Project. Consequently, it enhances meeting the objectives of

the project, by mitigating any forms of risks, which may occur (Project executing processes, n.d.).

The risk management process will typically involve identification of the critical and non-critical

risks, documentation of each risk through completion of the risk forms, logging all the risks in

depth through completion of risk forms, taking actions to decrease the likelihood of occurrence of

risk and reduction of the impact of risk on the project, in case the risk eventuates (8. Planning and

implementation, n.d.). Hence, through the risk management step, the risk will be identified,

monitored, and controlled.

Issue management

The issue management step involves the identification and resolution of issues in the

implementation phase of the Project. Hence through the issue management process, the issue will

be easily be identified and resolved quickly before they cause any forms of impacts, which may

be undesirable (8. Planning and implementation, n.d.). The issue management process will enhance

identification and recording of projects issues clearly, using the issue forms in proper issue

documentation, determination of the impact of each issue, prioritization of issues including

reporting their actual status, reviewing the issues so that the course of actions can be decided, and

taking appropriate steps to resolve the issues quickly.

Procurement management

The procurement step will help in the purchasing of goods, including services, particularly from

the external suppliers. Hence, the procurement process provides a step-by-step way of purchasing

from the appropriate suppliers (8. Planning and implementation, n.d.). Moreover, it will make it

easier to identify the goods and services to be procured, complete the purchase orders and issue to

the suppliers, agree on the delivery timeframes including methods, review and accept the items

procured and approval of the payments of the suppliers (Lima, Mesquita, & Fernandes, 2012).

Therefore, the procurement step ensures the availability of items needed for the implementation of

the Project.

Acceptance management

The acceptance process involves ensuring that the deliverables produced by the Project’s team

members meet the needs of the customers. Hence, during the acceptance process, the deliverables

are reviewed by the research participants and formally accepted by them, incases the deliverables

meet their needs (8. Planning and implementation, n.d.). Therefore, the acceptance process will

perform efficient user acceptance testing, user acceptance forms to document the initial results and

communicate the acceptance testing results.

Communications management

The communication process will help in undertaking communication among the project team

members. Hence, it will help in keeping the right people to be informed at the right time (Project

executing processes, n.d.). Therefore, the communication process will enhance the identification

of the messages to be sent to particular individuals, determine the target audience for

communication, decide on the timing and format of the message, communicate the message

through the communication events ad gather feedback, and even improve the communication

process.

Phase review

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION - RESEARCH ON OBESITY AND WEIGHT

MANAGEMENT9

It is the final step of the implementation phase. It will help in the documentation of the results of

the project, especially at the end of the execution phase (Project executing processes, n.d.). It will

be conducted to help measure the deliverables produced by the research project.

Conclusion

The research implementation will help generate management interventions for obesity and

overweight among the United States populations. Hence, the research will help to reduce the

number of side effect and complications which arise due to the conditions. Consequently, it will

help improve the health of people through obesity and overweight management programs.
