Persuasive Speech Topic Proposal

Step 1:

I will persuade my audience that professional female athletes should get paid the same as male athletes in the same sport.

Step 2:

Paying the female athletes, the same amount as men is a powerful statement and would be fair only because female can be as good as men.

Step 3:

· What makes this topic important to me?

· It’s important to me because I am woman and if I played a professional sport I would want to get paid equally to the males.

· What does your audience already know about the proposed topic?

· They have an idea that I will persuade them about why female athletes should get paid the same as the males.

· What would your audience need to know about this topic to confirm, change, or develop an opinion about it?

· I feel that women put in just as much time, skills, and dedication into their sport just like men. The average American woman earns 81% of what an average American man earns, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics
