Part 1: Annotated Bibliography

Part 2: Final Essay

Instructions:

1. Choose one of the titles below.

2. To support your stance, you must include evidence from a minimum of TWO sources. Please review our Research / APA Assignment (Week 9) for support with conducting research, and reach out to me for suggestions. I have many recommendations for suitable sources. Note: Wikipedia is not a credible source.

3. For Part 1: Annotated Bibliography (10%), choose ONE of your sources and create an Annotated Bibliography for it (see Week 10 and details below). Please also include an APA-formatted cover page.

4. For Part 2: Final Essay (10%), brainstorm your approach, then begin organizing your ideas using the outline/grid provided (see Week 11). The outline will help you, so try to populate it as much as possible. Then, write your essay in full sentences.

5. For Part 2: Final Essay (10%) review Week 11 materials; be sure to:

· Include a title (provided)

· Include an introduction (including thesis statement & organization of essay)

· Include 2 (minimum) main body paragraphs (containing CREE: claim, reason, evidence, explanation)

· Include a conclusion

· Use APA formatting throughout

· Include an APA-formatted cover page & reference list

· Use in-text citations

· Use academic language

· Double space your assignment of between 500 and 700 words

· Proofread for grammar and spelling

Part 1: Annotated Bibliography(See Week 10 materials for support)

· Once you have chosen your essay title, select a minimum of TWO sources, and create an Annotated Bibliography ONE of those sources

· Include all 4 necessary components:

1. A full APA-formatted citation

2. A summary of the main argument(s) of the article (2-3 sentences)

3. A short critique or evaluation of the article (2-3 sentences) (Is the article/author credible? Is the argument effective/persuasive?)

4. An explanation of how you will use the article in your writing (1-2 sentences) (how is it relevant to your final essay?)

· Accurate APA-formatted citation, APA cover page, and APA formatting throughout

· Accurate summarizing of the article (2-3 sentences)

· Thoughtful exploration of the article’s strengths & weaknesses (2-3 sentences)

· Careful elaboration of how the article will be of use to your writing

· Thoughtful editing demonstrates care regarding spelling & grammar

Part 2: Final Essay (10%)

· Your thesis statement presents your stance, & is clear & consistent throughout

· Your organization of essay establishes which (relevant) claims you will make to argue your stance

· You introduce clear, relevant claims by using a topic sentence at the top of each main paragraph

· You develop your arguments by including all the necessary components; C.R.E.E structure is clear & consistent

· Transitional words help to orientate your reader, & help your paragraphs to flow

· You include relevant evidence to support each claim & your overall stance

· Thoughtful editing demonstrates care regarding spelling & grammar

· You use academic tonality throughout; accurate reference list, cover page, font, indentation, in-text citation, in APA formatting with only minor errors

· You are able to quote and/or paraphrase with confidence
