Persuasive Assignment
Your school’s Student Organization must find ways to raise funds for the upcoming school year. The president of your group appoints a team and asks it to brainstorm for ways to meet your organization’s pledge to the United Way’s battle against adult illiteracy in your community. The campaign has targeted an estimated 10,000 people in your community who cannot read or write. After considering and discarding a number of ideas, your team comes up with the idea for a celebrity auction. At a spring
Function, items or services from local and other celebrities would be auctioned. Your organization approves your idea and asks your team to persuade an important person to donate one hour of tutoring in a subject he/she chooses. You may also request that the celebrity donate an item (a prop from a movie or perhaps a game-if an athlete) to the auction.
WRITE a Persuasive letter or Email to the celebrity /important person requesting time and an item for the event.
