Hello Everyone,

Privacy is the key concern to growing conflicts in data mining. Various methods of data mining usage are raising legal and privacy concerns. Any person’s personally identifiable information is readily available with many organizations where they work. There are some methods in practice which actually randomizes consumer’s personal information before it is ever transmitted or used. An example is IBM’s Privacy-Preserving Data mining method. By using this method company can access all the information needed without disturbing right of privacy.

Privacy and individuality are the two main ethical concerns of data mining. Companies using data mining must be aware of all the ethical concerns with their available data and must act responsibly. Any wrong use of data or can cause legal issues for people because unethical usage is considered to be strictly illegal. Maximizing the protection by having a complete control of access to data can help reducing these issues.

Despite many protocols from government security agencies there are still issues in data mining because these protocols are never strictly followed. An organization should be completely aware of all the sensitive or personal data available and should act professionally my maintaining high ethical standards and following latest techniques to avoid the data breach. In order to protect data integrity any business should follow strict constraints to ensure data consistency and accuracy. There are also rules and laws like ‘Federal Agency Data Mining Report Act of 2007’, which asks data mining industries to submit their regular activities in order to confirm there is no potential data breach or any misuse of the available information.

Data mining is critical in information technology since all the information is used in making a decision. However, several factors undermine the efficacy of data mining. Ethical standards, for instance, are not met due to the flawed policies in the technology sector. Business ethics codes are formulated to ensure that the right protocols are followed without fail (Pan et al., 2020). This implies that going against the ethical considerations in data mining can paralyze the sector's critical activities. Thus, the key players should develop the relevant reforms to ensure that all the necessary ethical considerations are followed by non-compliant bodies such as intelligence.

Information security is also another concern that undermines data mining. Works if literature has it that some people interfere with the users' information due to their selfish concerns (Rao et al., 2020). Data mining is the basis for decision-making, which means that interfering with sensitive information can affect insight development. This, therefore, calls for deployment if the most efficient techniques to ensure that the information in the databases is used in the right manner. This way, the sector can benefit from the smart approaches, thus invest in other useful projects within the industry.

Data mining privacy challenges can be substantiated with the necessary guidelines since they do not conform to the information technology protocols. However, the top executives have to put in all the required efforts to convince the organizations against the rules. It is deplorable that the issues are mostly commuted by the primary sectors that are driven by the government. In this note, the government should come in handy to ensure that the information serves the intended purpose. This way, all the organizations can benefit from the data stored in the information system. Also, this will reduce the hitches that might affect national goals.
