The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act is an Act of Congress in the United States. The act was established and promised improved student achievement for the United States children. The Act requires states to develop assessments in basic skills. The main intention is based on the thinking that setting high standards and attainable goals can improve individual outcomes in education. Systematic testing provides data that improve the outcomes of the students. The testing is based on several skills that the students must possess and grades the schools on the achievement of their students. NCLB reduces effective instruction and student learning by causing states to lower achievement goals and motivate teachers to "teach to the test (Hayes, 2015)." The NCLB act strives towards raising success and close any achievement goals. This act does this by supporting the standardized based education reform that seeks to establish measurable goals that help students’ in their educational outcomes. To fulfill such goals, states are required to come up with a basic skill assessment to get federal support. The Act standards are set by states rather than to have a national achievement standard. States, as well as educational agencies, are held accountable to improve the quality of education for the learners. Therefore, the main purpose of the NCLB is to identify as well as transform low performing schools, which fails to complete the task at hand that includes providing quality education towards their students and also moving them to successful schools. The NCLB legislation will offer the testing framework towards allowing educators to become more effective in managing the progress opportunities for underserved students. The introduction of proper implementation of the NCLB act has enabled states to test their learners in reading. Since most of the people were more concerned that American education was not competitive globally, the government come up with NCLBA.
