My Family Tree for Three Generations
understanding your family as a human being is very important, understanding your family gives you a clear picture of who you are, your strength and weakness basing on family historical background. understanding our family history also gives us a picture of what the society expects from us based on the history of our family, what we have to deliver to the community that we exist in and the people around us, family history gives us a chance to evaluate the transformations that have taken place in various generations through which our families have passed to be where it is, it helps us understand our family norms and culture and gives us a way on how to protect those norms and the family culture.
My family has had a great history from the days when my grandfather become a leading campaigner for justice and respect to all races living in this country, even though he and his wife only had two children, the family’s legacy and influence has not changed, even though there have been many challenges to maintain this legacy. My grandfather and his sister being the only children of my great grandfather new the importance of uniting as a family no matter the social dis- agreements that sometime arise because of ideological differences. They still worked together and supported each other to maintain their father and mother’s legacy in fighting for human rights at all cost. When grandfather’s sister got married her husband’s family become a strong supporter of the family ideologies and her sons and daughter have held unto this legacy up to day, a factor that has kept the entire family strong despite the expansion in the family. My grandfather on the other hand apart from trying to maintain his father’s legacy, he also become a profound business person who try to ensure that his family stand strong and maintains a name that his father had in the society.
Ensuring that the family heritage is passed from one generation to the next has been a principal goal of my family from my great grandfather’s time to date, this has been the main reason that has helped the family to stand and remains strong. A lot has changed in the family because of its expansion and growth in number but the main core value, and goals have remained to be a driving force towards the achievements that the family has got, in the family all members play a key role in full filing the values of the family and ensuring that they are passed to the offspring. Just like any other family, family unity is the key to achieving all the set values and ensuring that they are passed from one generation to another keeping in mind that there are family secrets that cannot be let out.
In my family, the family business is a right to everyone as long as he/she is alive and bonded my blood that has been inherited. It is the responsibility of sons to see to it that every year all the members of my great grandfather come together in a family union where other responsibilities of maintaining the fundamental norms are shared among all the members of the family.
At an nuclear level, my father has tried to ensure that all that his father is intended is achieved by us even if he never achieved all of them, being a family of four, father, mum and my sibling, it has been taught to us that virtues is the most important thing as a member of the family and all this can only be achieved through peace and unity in the family, finding a more logical way to solve any arising differences and conflicts. Unlike many families where the son is considered as the one to head the family businesses and affairs, my family believes that integrity is the most important factor that need to be considered for anyone to be given the responsibility of running any family business and affairs. As long as one has the sense of responsibility and integrity the he/ she is in a good position to be given the command to run business affairs.
