This particular movie the 13th was named after an amendment was made in the USA constitution that was implemented in order to bring to an end to the aspect of slavery. This particular movie puts into analysis the prison in the United stated and clearly shows how this system has led to the aspect of inequality in this system.

From this movie, one can identify the fact that there has been an expansion of the prison system in the United States of America. It is clear that the prison population in the USA is approximately two million despite the fact that the population of the USA is only a fifth of the world’s population. This movie puts a direct critic on Bill Clinton and Donald Trump for supporting the crime bill that led to an adverse increase in the prison population. At the beginning of the movie we are introduced to the civil war drama, this particular introduction pinpoints how the black people were being portrayed at these particular times. Moreover, the film also helps to portray the various policies from the various administration. Starting from ‘War on Drugs’ by Ronald Reagan and ‘Three-strikes’ by Bill Clinton. Moreover, the 2016 elections were also featured in this movie as one of the problems influencing the prison system.

From this movie, it is clear that the 13th amendment led to the rise in the prison population over time. This movie gives a better understanding of the aspect of mass criminalization that has led to the development of the prison as an industry on its own. The movie highlights the aspect of how the police use their status to arrest poor people who are then used to work for the community under the aspect of convict leasing. Moreover, the war on drugs was more focused on the minors and also the minority communities leading to many of them being convicted of crimes that they did not commit. Moreover, it explores the history of slavery and other forms of practices that have led to the development of modern-day slavery. From this documentary, it is clear that the various legislations have led to the suppression of the rights and freedoms of the blacks and thus turning them into second class citizens with fewer privileges. This particular aspect of being considered second-class citizens has forced many of them to engage in antisocial behaviors resulting to the aspect of being criminalized and eventually landing themselves in prison (Rankine et al., 2017).

The movie also helps to raise eyebrows on why there has been an increase in prison population despite a radical reduction in the number of crime levels in the United States of America. Moreover, it is clear that the rise in prison population has been due to a number of factors and politics has been one of these factors. For instance, during the 2016 elections, politicians worked to cause fear among the people of New York by promising to reduce the crime rate in New York. This was despite the fact that New York is one of the cities that has the lowest records in crime when compared to a decade ago. It is also clear that the rise of private prisons has also led to an increase in the imprisonment of people. This is mainly because this private aspect of prisons has helped in dealing with demand as more people get arrested on a daily basis. Moreover, politicians have been known to encourage the construction of more prisons with the aim of creating employment and also with the aim of keeping these particular facilities full of capacity (Up?, 2017).

Therefore, from this particular movie, it is clear that the issue of incarnation has been therefore for a long period of time. Mostly, this particular aspect is not aimed at justice but mostly it is aimed at attacking the minority, the poor and the people who are not in a position of defending themselves. Therefore this system can be described as a system that is aimed at causing fear among the minority in order to ensure that the government controls all the aspects of these minority groups. From this movie, it is clear that we live in a world full of inequality and injustice. Therefore in order to reduce the number of the prison population, the policymakers should try and reform the justice system. However, it is also clear that their justice system has been experiencing a number of reforms. For instance, there have been proposals to release an approximately six thousand prisoners who are described as being non-violent. This particular act will ensure that the population influx in the prisons is reduced to a manageable number. Additionally, clear policies should be established in order to deal with the different offenders. For instance, the issue of dealing either offenders who are on parole and continue to offend has been a major issue. The required guidelines have not been formulated, that is there is no clear mechanism on how such offenders should be handled (YouTube, 2017).

Therefore, the main problem facing the justice system is that most of the aspects of incarnation have no clear guidelines on how they can be handled. This has hampered service delivery in this system and thus reform agendas should be initiated it ensures that there are clear guidelines on how these particular issues can be handled.
