Community Teaching Work Plan Proposal

From Our Community Partners:
Trust is a big issue in urban communities. Because of this there is a lack of information reaching the community. If information can be passed to trusted sources, Pastors, Teachers, Counselors then there is a better likelihood that necessary information will reach the community.
|
The HIV/AIDS rates of transmission is higher in low income urban communities.
Necessary information and trust appear to be strong factors for this. Agencies and communities are addressing these issues and education about this virus is getting to trusted sources.
There was a big stigma from churches in the beginning of the AIDS epidemic. Churches have come to an understanding that they can make the difference in becoming a trusted source.
Churches acknowledging that the spiritual well-being of individuals and that they can become a source of healing and education has helped to advance changes in these communities.
All houses of worship can be a vital ministry to encourage and support the community. These houses of worship are often the first place that can identify problem areas in the community. |
