Introduction Consular Consolidated Database (CCD) is a huge warehouse that is maintained by the state department. The warehouse con- tained archived and current information concerning the citizens of the United States and non-U.S. individuals. All this information is derived from visas applications, passports, and American citizen services. The warehouse also has the addresses, names, biometric data, identification number, country of origin as well as race. CCD was initially developed in order to increase the effectiveness of consular activity and provide the current or recent data on trades at local and post databases. In addition, CCD also operates as the central consolidated storing facility for the Bureau of Consular Affairs, (Electronic Privacy Information Centre, 2019). The CCD also has a connection with other internal DOS facial recognition systems such as an integrated Biometric system(IBS) and an Automated Biometric identification system(ABIS). Both IBS and ABIS are enterprise-level facial recognition matching programs and obtain information from passport applications and visas. CCD also functions as the source of information flow between the external federal agencies and the state department that offers input to visa and password support system. The external information distribution through the CCD is of concern to EPIC because of the threats developed by extremal agencies.
For instance, the customs and Border Protection uses facial pictures collected by the state department to carry out facial recognition at the airstrip as part of the biometric entrance as well as the departure program. Conclusion Facial recognition systems are CPU based safe- ty systems that can be able to mechanically identify and detect the face. There is little that a person can do in order to avoid gathering his or her facial image. Unlike other biometric methods, facial images are complex since they cannot be changed. In my opinion, it is important to protect the privacy of citizens therefore any exterior agencies that share data with the CCD should sign a contract that defines the set require- ments and duties.
